A strip-cut shredder turns a page into long ribbons. This one is cross cut. It slices in both directions, so paper comes out as small particles, which is the more secure of the two for bank statements, bills and anything with an account number on it.
There are two models, and the name tells you the sheet capacity. The 6 Sheet Shredder takes 6 sheets at a time. The 8 Sheet Shredder takes 8. Both take credit cards, and you don't have to pick out staples or small paper clips first.
The 6 Sheet is the more compact of the two. It measures 30.7 x 19.6 x 40 cm (12.1 x 7.7 x 16 ins), weighs 3.6 kg and holds 14.4 L in the bin. The 8 Sheet measures 40 x 30.5 x 42 cm (16 x 12 x 17 ins), weighs 3.8 kg and holds 15.5 L.
Leave it in Auto and it starts on its own when it detects paper, then stops when the shredding is done. If a sheet goes in crooked or you feed too much, the manual reverse backs the paper out. It also lets you pull back a document you didn't mean to shred.
Thermal protection looks after the motor. If the shredder runs past its maximum run time or starts to overheat, it switches itself off. The maker does not publish that run time, so shred in batches and let it cool if it stops.
Two warnings from the maker are worth reading before you plug it in. Don't feed it metallic credit cards. And don't spray or keep any aerosol products in or around the shredder.
